Why I am Learning Portuguese

I have chosen to study the Portuguese language because I am interested in learning as many languages as possible.  I am a Spanish Studies major who is looking to be fluent in many languages.  I initially thought Portuguese and Spanish had a lot of similar properties such as accents and certain pronunciations, which turned out to be true, but there are also a wide variety of differences between the properties of the two languages.  I am really looking forward to practicing it frequently so I can be fluent in Portuguese.  When I am fluent, I may look to travel to Portugal and/or Brazil so I could sample the culture and be able to converse with the natives in Portuguese to test my understanding of the language.
